PDP postpones screening of aspirants ahead of 2025 national convention

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the postponement of the screening exercise for aspirants ahead of its 2025 Elective National Convention.

The screening, initially scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, 2025, was put on hold due to unforeseen circumstances.

This was disclosed in a statement on Monday by the Chairman of the PDP National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC) and Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri.

Fintiri explained that a new date for the screening would be announced later, while expressing regret for any inconvenience the postponement might cause.

He reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to ensuring a credible and hitch-free convention, slated to take place in Ibadan, Oyo State, from November 15 to 16, 2025.

“The National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC) of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has put on hold the screening of aspirants for the 2025 Elective National Convention due to unforeseen circumstances.

“A new date will be communicated once fixed.

“The committee regrets any inconveniences caused by the postponement,” the statement read in part.

The PDP had earlier appointed former Ondo State governorship candidate, Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), as Chairman of the Screening Committee, with Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, serving as Deputy Chairman.

Other members include Asue Ighodalo (Secretary), Jacob Otorkpa (Deputy Secretary), Emmanuel Enoidem, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Chief Aduke Maina, Iyom Josephine Anenih, Achike Udenwa, Maryam Ciroma, Felix Hyat, Zainab Maina, and Chinedu Nwachukwu, who will serve as member/administrative secretary.
