No fewer than three pensioners, on Monday, October 16, collapsed at the ongoing forensic audit of active and passive workers of the Osun State Government.

The pensioners collapsed during the exercise at the Centre for Black Culture and International Understanding in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

It was gathered that the retirees, who had arrived at the venue of the forensic audit for the take-off on Monday morning, collapsed while waiting for the arrival of the officials to commence the exercise at about 12:45 p.m.

It, however, took the intervention of the health workers of the Osun State Ambulance Service to revive and stabilise the victims.

Other pensioners, who could not withstand the rigours of standing for long, lay down on the bare floor while others sat under trees located outside the complex.

Confirming the incident, the Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) in Osun State, Dele Aina, said he would assess the situation to ensure that everyone is adequately taken care of.

The staff audit was earlier suspended for weeks by the state House of Assembly over the inhuman treatment meted out to the civil servants by the consultant.

The suspension was later lifted after she promised to adjust the observed lapses.
