PHOTOS: Prophet Fufeyin buries mother in gold-plated coffin

Founder of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin, has laid his mother, Mama Asetu, to rest in a burial ceremony that has stirred widespread reactions on social media.

Mama Asetu, who passed away in May 2025 at the age of 104, was buried in December, several months after her death.

The funeral ceremony, attended by family members, associates and sympathisers, was captured in videos that began trending online on Sunday.

Footage from the event showed the late matriarch being interred in a gold-plated coffin following a funeral service.

The elaborate design of the casket quickly became a focal point of online discussions.

Unverified claims circulating on social media suggested that the gold-plated coffin cost over ₦100 million, with some estimates placing its value at about ₦150 million.

However, these figures have not been independently confirmed.

The burial has since generated mixed reactions, with many social media users debating the scale of the ceremony and the lavish nature of the final rites accorded to the late mother of the cleric.
