The Kano State Police Command has arrested 11 suspects linked to a violent gang clash and looting incident in the Medile and Sheka areas of the state on Tuesday night.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the incident occurred around 10:00 p.m. on May 26, 2025, when rival gangs armed with dangerous weapons engaged in a knife fight that escalated into robbery and burglary.
“The suspects attacked and injured innocent citizens and stole their belongings,” the statement read. “We have successfully arrested 11 of those involved.”

Those arrested include Aliyu Ibrahim (21), Abubakar Ya’u (18), Ibrahim Kaulayi (19), Ibrahim Murtala also known as Mai Rakuma (18), Abba Musa also known as Giza Gizo (27), Muhammad Dawud also known as Dan Besse (19), Abdullahi Ibrahim also known as Tsoho Me Nama (38), Jibril Abubakar also known as Abasu Kala (22), Salim Musa (20), Zaharaddin Ismail also known as Gwan Gwan (20), and Abubakar Hassan also known as Meguda Dan Ta (44).
The police commended the public for their cooperation and urged continued community support to maintain peace and security in the state.
“We appreciate the vigilance of residents and encourage more involvement in protecting lives and property,” the command stated.
