The Jigawa State Police Command says its operatives have arrested 79 suspects in the state for various criminal activities.

The command’s spokesman, Lawan Adam made the disclosure via a statement issued on Monday.

Adam stated that the police officers also impounded 60 motorcycles for violating executive order that bans riding motorcycles from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. in Jigawa State.

He said the suspects were arrested after the policemen raided the criminal hideouts in the state.

“During the period under review, operatives from Jahun, Gwaram, Dutse, Maigatari, Malam Madori, Guri, Fanisau, and Kazaure Divisional Police Headquarters, acting on credible and actionable intelligence, invaded criminal hideouts and black spots in their Area of Responsibility.

“The operatives succeeded in intercepting illicit drugs such as nine blocks of marijuana, 439 wraps of Cannabis, 465 pieces of D5 tablets, 248 pieces of exol tablets, 53 bottles of soak and die, 30 pieces of Tramadol tablets, 17 pieces of Diazepam,  12 tubes of rubber solutions, three bottles of alcohol, and one piece of pentazocine injection.

“Among the 79 suspects arrested, two are notorious drug peddlers namely: one Abdurrashid Umar ‘m’ age 22yrs of Birnin Kudu LGA, and one Abdullahi Ibrahim ‘m’ age 50yrs of Tsakwawa village,” the police spokesperson said.

Adam added that 120 litres of petroleum were impounded for contravening State Executive Order that prohibits selling fuel in large quantity.

He stated that the suspects have been charged to court to face the consequences of their respective actions.

He, however, urged the people of Jigawa State to cooperate with security agencies and avail them credible information to continue to raid criminal hideouts and black spots in the state.
