The operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a suspected armed robber, identified as Isikilu Moses, while carrying out an operation in Joju in the Sango-Ota area of the state.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, made the disclosure via a statement issued on Sunday.

Oyeyemi stated that the suspected armed robber was arrested on Friday, following a distress call received at Sango-Ota Divisional Headquarters.

The police spokesperson explained that armed robbers had invaded Adebeshi Street, off Joju road, and dispossessed members of the community of their belongings.

“Upon the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Sango-Ota Division, SP Saleh Dahiru, quickly moblised his patrol team and moved to the scene.

“On sighting the policemen, the hoodlums took to their heels, but they were hotly chased, and one of the suspects named Isikilu Moses, was apprehended.

“Recovered from the suspect are one locally-made pistol and two mobile phones belonging to their victims,” Oyeyemi added.

He noted that the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for investigation.

The police spokesman added that Bankole equally ordered a manhunt for the remaining members of the gang.
