Police arrest car wash attendant for stealing customer’s car in Lagos

The operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested a 22-year-old car wash attendant, Issa Muhammed, after he allegedly absconded with a 2012 Toyota Camry handed over to him for cleaning in the Isheri area of Lagos State.

The car wash attendant was arrested on Sunday, September 10, 2023, in the Agege area of Lagos State where he parked the car to link up with a buyer.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, made the disclosure in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 12.

Hundeyin stated that preliminary investigations revealed that the car was handed over to the suspect by the owner in preparation for a family outing on Sunday afternoon.

He said Mohammed, who was employed at the car wash three days before the incident, removed the number plate of the car and discarded all identities linking the car to its owner immediately he arrived Agege.

The police spokesperson added that the CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi-led RRS would charge the matter to court immediately investigation is concluded.
