Police arrest man for killing mother accused of witchcraft in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Jibrin Ado, for allegedly killing his mother on suspicion of witchcraft.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 26, at about 4:30 p.m. in Daneji Village, Ringim Local Government Area.

According to eyewitnesses, Ado, in company with four accomplices identified as Musa Kwalle, Dan Abba, Sule Musa, and one Arrow, all from Gerawa Village, stormed the residence of his father, Adamu Saleh.

They reportedly attacked his 50-year-old mother, Magajiya Ado, with heavy sticks, accusing her of being a witch.

The victim was rushed to General Hospital, Ringim, where she later died while receiving treatment.

Her remains have since been released to the family for burial.

Police confirmed the arrest of Ado while efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.
