The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended a 37-year-old man, Wisdom Benoie, for allegedly raping his 15-year-old stepdaughter.
According to CSP Ahmed Wakil, the command’s spokesman, the suspect was caught by local youths after the victim’s father reported the matter to the police.
Investigations revealed that Benoie, who married the victim’s mother, had been sexually assaulting his stepdaughter multiple times while she was asleep.
The victim eventually confided in neighbors, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
During interrogation, Benoie reportedly confessed to the crime.
The victim has been taken to a medical facility for examination and care.

The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and subsequent prosecution.
