Police arrest twin brothers for ATM theft in Abuja

The operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have arrested twin brothers for alleged theft of an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card in Abuja.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, disclosed this at a media briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.

Igweh said the twin brothers were arrested on Tuesday, August 27, for allegedly executing a plan to swap ATM cards and withdraw money from unsuspecting victims’ accounts.

The CP also announced the arrest of a Nigerian Navy seaman, AbdulRasheed Muhammad, for the alleged murder of Aminu Ibrahim, the son of former Chief of Naval Staff, Ishaya Ibrahim, and snatching of his SUV Prado in the Maitama area of Abuja.

The suspect, according to him, was arrested on August 23 during a routine stop and search operation.

Igweh said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was on guard duty at the residence of the retired naval officer and that the vehicle belonged to the late Aminu Ibrahim.

The police commissioner said the suspect confessed to being a member of a three-man gang specialising in armed robbery and snatching luxury vehicles.

He said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the remaining gang members, adding that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
