The Magistrates’ Court sitting in Yaba, Lagos State, has reportedly adjourned the trial of Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, to Wednesday, May 24, 2023.
It was gathered that the trial, which was slated for Tuesday, May 23, was adjourned over the Chief Magistrate, Adeola Olatubosun’s absence from the court.
“The trial has been adjourned till tomorrow, May 24, 2023, because the judge is not around, a source told Punch on Tuesday.
The court had, on Thursday, May 18, granted an application for an extension of remand of Kuti until May 22.

Simon Lough, SAN, who led a police legal team to the court, moved the application, adding that the extension would allow further investigation into the case.
Kuti was charged for assaulting a police officer.
He allegedly committed the offence on May 13 on the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos State.
The police charged him for slapping an inspector after driving dangerously on the bridge and deliberately blocking a moving police vehicle.
