The operatives of the Rivers State Police Command, on Monday, April 7, 2025, fired tear gas to disperse protesters in the state.
The protesters, who are members of the ‘Take It Back Movement’, had converged on the Isaac Boro Park in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, to protest the emergency rule in the state and the alleged misuse of the cybercrime act by the police.
Some of the demonstrators said they had informed the police of their intention to stage the demonstration in a letter dated April 3, 2025.

However, some of the protesters, including journalists covering the event, were beaten up by the police officers.
Similar protests are being staged in Lagos, Abuja, and some capital cities across the country.
