Nwifuru suspends 2 Ebonyi commissioners over dereliction of duty

Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has suspended the state Commissioner for Works, Stanley Mbam, and that of Infrastructure Development for Concession, Obasi, over “dereliction of duties”.

The suspensions were announced in a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Dr Monday Uzor, on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

Nwifuru directed the affected commissioners to handover all government property in their possession, including their official vehicles, to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

“This directive is with immediate effect,” the governor stated.

The suspensions follow the outcry in some quarters over the poor and delayed delivery of various projects across Ebonyi State.
