Police clear Pastor Adefarasin over viral gun video

The Lagos State Police Command has cleared the Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, over a viral video showing him with what appeared to be a firearm.

It would be recalled that a video surfaced online in June 2025 showing Adefarasin holding what appeared to be a handgun while stuck in traffic.

The viral video led to public speculation, with some social media users alleging that the pastor was displaying a gun while being filmed by a TikToker known for documenting luxury cars.

Adefarasin later denied the allegation, saying the object was not a firearm and that he did not point it at anyone.

However, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, in a statement on Wednesday, September 17, said the command has cleared Adefarasin of the allegations.

Adebisi stated: “After a thorough investigation, including interrogation and a cautionary statement from Pastor Adefarasin, it was established that the object in question was a stun gun and not a lethal weapon or firearm.

“Consequent on our findings, the Lagos State Police Command has determined that there are no sufficient grounds to proceed with the matter. The case is hereby discontinued.

“The Lagos State Police Command remains committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring public safety while maintaining transparency in all investigations.
