The police have declared a skin care therapist, Pamela Onyeagusi, wanted for allegedly using social media to blackmail her client Justice Zaynab Bashir.

The declaration was contained in a special police gazette bulletin issued by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun.

The gazette stated that a warrant for Onyeagusi’s arrest had also been issued by the Magistrate Court of Lagos.

The police appealed to Nigerians for information on Onyeagusi’s whereabouts, adding that the skin care therapist would be arrested.

The police added: “There are feelers that Pamela Onyeagusi, who is in hiding, maybe plotting her way out of Nigeria to seek asylum in the United States.

“She is believed to have engaged in social media campaign, allegedly creating scenarios of threat and intimidation against and around her person in order to build a solid case for asylum consideration once she files with her social media reports/documentation to the relevant US offices or authorities.”

Prior to her being declared wanted, a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, presided over by Justice G.K. Olotu, had ordered the freezing of the bank accounts of the fleeing owner of Lotela Beauty Limited.

The court had also granted leave to the federal government to declare her wanted over her refusal to appear in court in the suit filed against her and her company by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).

The account-freezing order was made on July 21, 2023, in a suit marked FHC/ABJ/C4/145/2023 between the Federal Republic (complainant) and Lotela Beauty Limited and Pamela Onyeagusi, as first and second defendants, respectively.

The FCCPC had acted on a petition by the legal team to Pamela’s client, who is a judge, urging it to investigate the poor service and breach of the rights of its (legal team’s) client.

Justice Olotu had adjourned the case to September 21, 2023, for arraignment.
