Police detain suspects for child abuse, assault cases in Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Olaitan Oloyede, over the alleged sexual abuse of an eight-year-old girl in Ibadan.

Police spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, said in a statement on Sunday that the suspect is in custody while investigations continue.

According to the statement, the case was reported after the child complained to her father, and officers from the Oke Alaro Division immediately began inquiries.

Ayanlade added that another suspect, Sunday James, was also arrested following a violent dispute in Tede, in the Oke Ogun area of the state.

During the fight, a farmer, Benua Bukari, sustained a serious injury to his wrist.

Police officers from the Tede Division moved to the scene and arrested the suspect, while the victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

The police said both suspects remain in custody as investigations into the separate incidents continue.
