Police, horse riders clash near Bayero University Kano

A violent clash broke out on Saturday between horse riders and officers of the Nigerian Police Force in the Rimin Gata area, opposite Bayero University Kano (New Site).

The altercation reportedly began when a surveillance team from the Rijiyar Zaki Division moved to disperse an unauthorised horse race, following a tip-off warning that it could lead to phone snatching or violence.

Eyewitnesses said the riders resisted arrest, accusing the police of using excessive force.

The situation quickly escalated into a physical confrontation, but no fatalities were recorded.

Normalcy was later restored, though it remains unclear if any arrests were made.

As of press time, the Kano State Police Command has not released an official statement.
