Police Inspector kills self in Kano

An officer of the Kano State Police Command, Inspector Aminu Ibrahim, has died following an accidental gunshot while on duty in the Hotoro area of the state.

It was gathered that the police Inspector accidentally shot himself while in the toilet at about 5:40 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2025.

It was learnt that Ibrahim mistakenly shot himself in the stomach while squatting, with his loaded AK-47 rifle strapped around his neck.

“The rifle, with registration number GT 4177, was recovered cocked and unsafe, alongside an empty shell. 29 rounds of ammunition were accounted for against the 30 earlier issued to him,” sources told security analyst Zagozola Makama.

The Inspector was immediately rushed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital where he was confirmed dead by a doctor on duty.

His remains have since been deposited in the hospital’s mortuary for autopsy.
