Police officer, woman die as Boko Haram attacks barracks in Borno

Two persons have been confirmed dead following an attack by Boko Haram terrorists on Jakana Police Barracks in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.

Confirming the incident on Sunday, July 28, 2024, the Borno State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahun Daso, disclosed that the attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday.

Daso identified the victims as a police officer and a civilian woman.

Daso said the swift response of the Police Mobile Force Officers attached to the Jakana Police Station repelled the Boko Haram terrorists, preventing them from overrunning the police asset.

He stated that two persons died during the exchange of gun battle.

The police spokesperson noted: “They included a police officer and a civilian woman. Additionally, a police patrol vehicle was burnt down during the incident.

“The Commissioner of Police in Borno State, CP Yusufu Lawal, has extended his condolences to the families of the victims and assured that a discreet investigation has commenced.

“Security measures have also been taken to prevent further attacks.”
