Police probe Delta governor’s aide’s death

The Special Adviser to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Trade and Export, Love Shimite, has been confirmed dead.

It was gathered that the governor’s aide died at a hospital in the early hours of Monday, April 21, 2025.

Her demise was confirmed by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.

Edafe disclosed that Shimite’s husband called the police to report that his wife fell ill and died on Monday morning.

Edafe said the deceased’s husband informed the police that his wife’s family members are allegedly threatening his life for being responsible for her death.

The police spokesman stated that Shimite’s husband was not arrested but taken into protective custody, adding that an autopsy would be conducted to ascertain the actual cause of the deceased’s death.

He said: “We (police) don’t have any report of any confrontation with the husband. It was the husband who called the police that his wife fell ill and died.

“He said he is getting threats from the family of his wife and feared that they might attack him over the incident.

“We took him into protective custody. The body of the deceased has been deposited in the mortuary awaiting autopsy.”
