The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested 61 suspects following coordinated raids on identified criminal hotspots and hideouts across Abuja.
Security sources said the operation was carried out at about 11:20 p.m. on December 15, involving operatives drawn from several police divisions within the FCT.
The raids were conducted by personnel from Karmo, Apo, Wuse, Central Police Station (CPS), Kurudu, Jikwoyi, Katampe, Kubwa, Maitama, Mpape, Gwagwalada, Mabushi and Utako divisions.
According to the sources, the operatives targeted known black spots and uncompleted buildings within their respective areas of responsibility, leading to the arrest of 61 suspects.
During the operation, police also recovered quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, along with other illicit drugs.
All the suspects are currently in custody at their respective divisions, where they are undergoing screening and investigation.
Police authorities said those found culpable will be charged to court, stressing that the command will continue to intensify proactive security operations aimed at flushing out criminal elements and ensuring the safety of residents across the FCT.
