The Borno State Police Command has recovered an unexploded ordnance (UXO) discovered on a farmland in Dikwa Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, said the device was found by a farmer, Babagana Kachalla, who reported the suspicious object to authorities.
Following the report, the Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, deployed the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit to the site.
The team identified the device as a cluster bomb unit measuring about 2.2 metres long and 30 centimetres wide, partially buried in the ground.
The EOD operatives successfully extracted and demolished the bomb without incident.
Daso added that residents of the area have been sensitised on precautionary measures and advised to immediately alert security agencies whenever they encounter suspicious objects.
