The operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command have repelled a bandit attack in the state, neutralising two suspects and recovering firearms.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, disclosed this via a statement issued on Monday, January 12, 2026.
Hassan noted that the command, at about 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, received credible intelligence that a syndicate of armed bandits, led by one Kachalla Sanusi Bajira, was mobilising to attack residents of Idissu Village.
Hassan stated that the bandit leader had imposed an illegal levy on the community, which residents failed to pay.
He said following the community’s inability to comply, Bajira threatened to attack the villagers.
Hassan said upon the receipt of the information, the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police immediately directed the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to move to the area.
Hassan said on arrival, police operatives discovered that the bandits had laid an ambush.
He said: “Upon sighting the police, the bandits engaged the team in a gun duel.
“However, the attackers were overpowered by the superior firepower of the police operatives.
“This resulted in the neutralisation of two bandits, while others fled into the surrounding bushes.”
The police spokesman disclosed that two firearms and five rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the fleeing bandits.
The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, while commending the gallantry and professionalism of the operatives, reassured residents of the command’s unwavering commitment to sustaining aggressive and intelligence-driven operations against banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes.
