The Kaduna State Police Command has rescued 17 underage children and arrested three suspected traffickers in Zaria Local Government Area.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, the arrests followed credible intelligence on suspicious movements of children under the Danmagaji Flyover in Zaria.
Police detectives from the Danmagaji Division quickly intervened, preventing the children from being trafficked to Abuja and other parts of the country.
The suspects were identified as Musa Shuaibu and Sani Mamman from Katsina State, and Mubarak Ismail from Kano State.
During interrogation, they reportedly confessed to collecting the children from different locations and preparing to transport them to Abuja and beyond.
Hassan stated that all rescued children are in good health and are now under police care, with efforts ongoing to reunite them with their families or guardians.
Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, praised the Danmagaji Division for their swift action and reiterated the command’s zero tolerance for child trafficking and exploitation.
He urged parents to be vigilant against syndicates promising a “greener posture” for their children in cities and advised reporting any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
The suspects are currently under investigation and will be prosecuted upon the conclusion of police inquiries.
