The operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have rescued five out of the six sisters of the Al-Kadriyar family who were abducted in the Bwari area of Abuja on January 2, 2024.
The kidnappers had killed one of the sisters who was initially kidnapped with the girls.
Also rescued by police operatives were four members of lawyer Oladosu Ariyo family – the wife and three other children – who were kidnapped in the Dutse area of Abuja.
Confirming the development via a statement issued on Sunday, January 21, 2024, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed that the kidnapped victims were rescued from the Kajuru forest in Kaduna State at about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 20.
Adeh said the victims were rescued by the operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the FCT Police Command in collaboration with the troops of the Nigerian Army.

She commended the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun, for deploying the newly inaugurated Special Intervention Squad to the area, saying the deployment uplifted the existing security architecture of Abuja and brewed public confidence.
Adeh said the FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, had pledged the commitment of the command to sustain the robust security deployment across Abuja.
The police spokesperson further urged the residents to promptly report suspicious activities in their areas to the police.
It would be recalled that the sisters were abducted alongside their dad and some residents of Bwari.
Their father was immediately released and ordered to pay about N60 million ransom for the children.
One of the sisters, Nabeeha was later killed by the kidnappers for non-prompt payment of the ransom.
