Police uncover fake kidnap staged by 14-year-old girl in Katsina

The Nigeria Police Force has uncovered a staged kidnapping orchestrated by a 14-year-old girl in Katsina State, who conspired with three others to fake her own abduction along with her four-year-old sister.

According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the incident was first reported on February 20, 2025, by one Alhaji Badamasi Bala of Madaci Yan Nono Quarters.

Following a detailed investigation by the Katsina State Police Command, it was discovered that the teenager had plotted the abduction with three accomplices aged 25, 19, and 16.

The case took a new turn four months later when the teenage girl reappeared. During interrogation, she confessed to masterminding the staged abduction and colluding with the suspects.

The police have since arrested all those involved and successfully rescued the four-year-old girl unharmed.
