An Ibadan-based cleric, Kayode Amusan, popularly known as Agbala Gabriel, has come under intense public scrutiny following allegations of sexual misconduct and mishandling of donations raised for sick individuals.
For years, the pastor built a reputation online as a compassionate religious leader whose ministry frequently mobilised support for the sick and vulnerable.
Videos showing him praying for struggling families and appealing for financial assistance often circulated on social media, earning him admiration from many Nigerians who saw him as a cleric devoted to charitable causes.
However, the pastor’s reputation has recently been challenged by a series of allegations spreading across Facebook, TikTok and Instagram.
The claims centre on a medical fundraising case involving a sick woman and allegations that the cleric fathered twins with a former backup singer in his church.
One of the controversies reportedly began with the case of a woman identified as Morenikeji, who was said to be suffering from a spinal condition and whose medical treatment had earlier attracted public donations.
In a viral video, Nollywood actress Foluke Daramola explained that she had previously helped raise funds for the woman’s surgery.
According to her, she later discovered that the patient’s family sought assistance from Agbala Gabriel.
“I initially raised money for the woman’s surgery, which wasn’t enough. But as soon as the family took her to Agbala Gabriel’s care, I withdrew,” she said.
Daramola alleged that she later learnt the cleric abandoned the family and failed to provide the accommodation and surgery he had promised.
The woman’s daughter also claimed in the same video that she eventually took her mother away from the cleric due to concerns about how the situation was being handled.
While the controversy was still gaining attention online, another allegation emerged.
A blogger known as Iyalaje Courtroom alleged during a live broadcast that the cleric had been involved in mismanagement of donations and sexual relationships with women.
She claimed that one of the women, identified as Bolu, was a former backup singer in the pastor’s church who allegedly became pregnant for him and later gave birth to twins.
According to the blogger, the cleric initially denied the pregnancy but later accepted responsibility and reportedly rented a house for the woman and the children.
The claim was also supported by a charity advocate, Princess Adeyinka, who alleged that she intervened when the matter first surfaced.
She said the pastor initially denied the pregnancy before eventually accepting responsibility.
As the allegations continued to spread on social media, reactions have been mixed, with some supporters defending the cleric’s charitable work while others called for greater transparency.
Reacting to the allegations, Amusan denied wrongdoing, insisting that the claims were attempts to tarnish his reputation.
“This is how they try to bring ministers of God down. All ministers who become famous face this kind of lies. We see men of God like Enoch Adeboye and other famous pastors being dragged on social media every day. This is just how they do on social media, making false allegations,” he said.
