A Magistrates’ Court sitting in the Ota area of Ogun State has sentenced a 24-year-old Point of Sales (PoS) attendant, Yusuf Olamilekan, to 18 months imprisonment for gambling with N1 million belonging to his employer.
The prosecutor, Inspector E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the PoS attendant committed the offence at Sango-Ota in Ogun State on April 7, 2025.
Adaraloye said the defendant unlawfully withdrew N1 million from his employer’s account without consent to play a game of chance.

He said Olamilekan subsequently lost the money, adding that the offence contravened Section 383 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
Olamilekan pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing.
Delivering judgement on Monday, May 19, the Magistrate, O.O. Fadairo, sentenced the PoS attendant to 18 months imprisonment with an option of fine of N60,000.
Fadairo said the convict should also restitute N1 million to the complainant.
