PSC releases 50,000 successful police constable candidates

The Police Service Commission has released the names of 50,000 successful candidates recruited into the Nigeria Police Force as Police Constables following the completion of the nationwide recruitment exercise.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the PSC’s Head of Protocol and Public Relations, Torty Kalu, the commission said the exercise was conducted in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, the Federal Character Commission, the Ministry of Police Affairs, state career and counselling departments, and the Police Community Relations Committee.

The commission described the recruitment process as transparent, inclusive and merit-based, urging all applicants who participated in the written examination to check their status through the official recruitment portal.

According to the PSC, the portal will become accessible from 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, while successful candidates will also receive notifications through the email addresses and phone numbers provided during registration.

The commission said shortlisted applicants would later be informed of the dates and venues for reporting to designated police training institutions for medical examinations and documentation.

It warned that candidates who fail to report within the stipulated period would be deemed to have declined the offer, while those who do not pass the mandatory medical screening conducted by the Police Medical Team would be disqualified from the training programme.

Successful candidates have been directed to report with their training call-up slip, National Identification Number (NIN) slip, Bank Verification Number (BVN) slip, original and photocopies of their academic certificates, alongside other required documents listed on the recruitment portal.

PSC Chairman, retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Hashimu Argungu, commended President Bola Tinubu for approving the recruitment of the 50,000 police constables, describing it as a major step towards strengthening the country’s security architecture.

He urged the successful applicants to embrace the opportunity with dedication, professionalism and integrity, stressing that they have been entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding lives and property across the country.
