PZ Cussons Nigeria posts 39% growth in organic operating profit

PZ Cussons Nigeria has reported a 39 per cent increase in organic operating profit to N8.54 billion for the first quarter of its 2026 financial year, up from N5.85 billion recorded in the corresponding period.

The company attributed the improvement to a favourable combination of volume and pricing, as well as continued strength across its brands.

According to the company’s unaudited financial results released on September 29, 2026, gross profit increased by 24 per cent to N19.78 billion from N15.90 billion in the corresponding period.

Cost of sales also rose by five per cent, from N43.11 billion to N45.06 billion.

Company Secretary, Oghenekevwe Ogefere, said the performance reflected the group’s focus on sustainable revenue growth, operational efficiency and strengthening the underlying performance of the business.

“Profit before tax was N9.09 billion, while profit after tax was N4.63 billion,” Ogefere said.

She explained that the profit figures were lower than those recorded in the corresponding period last year because the previous year included N15.74 billion in non-recurring gains, compared with N510 million recorded in the current quarter.

Meanwhile, gross margin improved to approximately 30.5 per cent from 26.9 per cent a year earlier.

Ogefere said the company would continue to focus on sustaining revenue growth, improving operating performance and creating long-term value for its stakeholders.
