The Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) says rainstorm in the state has left one elderly woman dead while several houses were destroyed.
The affected communities are Unguwar Bai and Dukawa in Dambatta Local Government Area of Kano State.
The Executive Secretary of the agency, Saleh Jili, made this known while leading a government delegation on a sympathy visit to the communities on Monday.
Jili, who described the incident as unfortunate, said the state government would extend relief materials to the victims of the incident.

He noted that the government was committed to the protection of lives and property of the residents of the state through the initiation of policies aimed at uplifting the standard of living of the people.
On his part, the chairman of Dambatta Local Government, Mohammad Kore, said over 70 houses were affected by the rainstorm.
He added that one person was killed while scores were injured, including pregnant women and underage children.
SEMA later distributed relief materials that included bags of cement, bundles of zink, mattresses, pillows, mats, and food stuffs to the victims.
