Ramadan: Yari distributes food items to 250,000 households in Zamfara

The senator representing Zamfara West Senatorial District, Abdulaziz Yari, has flagged off the distribution of 358 trucks of assorted grains to 250,000 households in Zamfara State.

Yari in his speech during the distribution ceremony held at his country home Talata Mafara on Monday, March 11, 2024, said the gesture was to cushion the current hardship among the less-privileged people during the month of Ramadan.

Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State, said the assorted grains comprising of rice, maize, millet, and sugar would be distributed in 14 Local Government Areas of the state.

The lawmaker, who was represented by the former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Tijjani Yahaya Kaura, said the intervention was meant to assist the 250,000 beneficiaries in order to perform the Ramadan fasting at ease.

He noted that the food items would be distributed to everybody irrespective of party differences.

“Let me state it categorically, the gesture is meant for everyone for the sake of Almighty Allah as there is no politics therein,” Yari said.

Senator Yari stressed that 17,000 households beneficiaries were drawn from each of the 13 Local Government Areas, while 22,000 beneficiaries were drawn from Gusau LGA.

He urged the distribution committee members to judiciously make the distribution of the food items with fairness and also appealed to Muslims to use the month of Ramadan to pray for the restoration of peace in the state and country at large.

Speaking earlier, the chairman of the distribution committee, Lawali Liman, said the gesture would go round all the 147 wards in Zamfara State.

“Let us use this holy month of Ramadan and together pray for Allah to reward the senator for providing succour to the needy across the state,” Liman urged the beneficiaries.
