A Rano Air flight en route from Abuja to Sokoto made an emergency landing on Saturday, June 29, after one of its engines caught fire shortly before landing.
The incident occurred around 2:35 p.m. as the aircraft approached the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport in Sokoto, according to police sources.
The pilot swiftly alerted the control tower, prompting the rapid response of emergency services, including aerodrome firefighters, who successfully extinguished the blaze.
All passengers and crew safely disembarked without injuries or casualties, authorities confirmed.
The affected aircraft has since been secured and inspected, and airport operations continue as normal.
Aviation authorities are expected to launch a full investigation into the cause of the engine fire.
