Real Madrid, Arsenal, PSG advance to Champions League quarter-finals

Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), and Arsenal all booked their places in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday, while Sporting staged a dramatic comeback to eliminate Bodo/Glimt.

PSG continued their dominant form with a 3-0 victory over Chelsea in London, sealing an emphatic 8-2 aggregate win.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring early after capitalising on a defensive error, while Bradley Barcola added a second before halftime.

Substitute Senny Mayulu completed the rout in the second half. The French side will now face either Liverpool or Galatasaray in the next round.

Real Madrid also progressed comfortably, defeating Manchester City 2-1 at home to secure a 5-1 aggregate victory.

Already leading 3-0 from the first leg, Madrid were firmly in control after City’s Bernardo Silva was sent off for handball.

Vinicius Junior converted the resulting penalty and later added another goal, while Erling Haaland briefly equalised for City.

Real are almost certain to face Bayern Munich in a heavyweight quarter-final, with the Germans 6-1 up against Atalanta before Wednesday’s return match.

Arsenal kept their hopes of a historic quadruple alive by beating Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium, completing a 3-1 aggregate win.

Eberechi Eze gave the hosts the lead with a stunning long-range strike before Declan Rice sealed the victory with a composed finish.

Arsenal face Manchester City in the English League Cup final on Sunday, and will play Sporting in the quarter-finals.

Sporting produced one of the most remarkable comebacks of the round, overturning a 3-0 first-leg deficit to defeat Bodo/Glimt 5-0 after extra time in Lisbon.

The result ends the Norwegian club’s impressive run and sends Sporting into the quarter-finals for the first time since 1983.
