Reforms attracting major investments to Kaduna — Uba Sani

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, says reforms introduced by his administration over the past two and a half years are beginning to yield tangible investment inflows and economic growth across the state.

He said the policy changes have created a more business-friendly environment and earned Kaduna national recognition, with the state ranking second in the 2025 Subnational Ease of Doing Business Report released by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC).

The governor spoke on Thursday at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Kaima Smart City project in Pmape community, Kagarko Local Government Area, near the Federal Capital Territory.

According to him, his administration is consolidating on reforms and improved security to attract investments across key sectors, resulting in measurable development outcomes.

“In housing, landmark initiatives such as the Qatar Sanabil Housing Project and the Renewed Hope Housing Programme are delivering thousands of affordable homes, along with social infrastructure and employment opportunities, especially for vulnerable and displaced persons,” he said.

Sani added that renewed investor confidence is also boosting activities in mining, agribusiness, manufacturing and industrial development, leveraging Kaduna’s mineral resources and strategic location.

He noted that the Kaima Smart City is designed as a model for modern urban development in Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa, describing it as a strategic economic and cultural gateway due to its proximity to Abuja.

With an estimated investment of over $700 million, the governor said the project reflects growing investor trust in Kaduna as a viable destination for long-term investments.

He explained that the smart city aims to address challenges posed by rapid urbanisation through sustainable planning and resilient infrastructure, creating an inclusive, efficient and future-ready environment.

When completed, Sani said the development will serve as a hub for enterprise, culture, leisure and innovation, while generating jobs, expanding economic opportunities for host communities, boosting internally generated revenue and positioning Kaduna as a leading tourism and investment destination.
