The House of Representatives has approved a request by President Bola Tinubu to obtain a $516.3 million loan from Deutsche Bank for the construction of the Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway.
The House gave the approval during plenary in Abuja on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, after lawmakers reviewed and adopted a report presented by the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Aids, Loans and Debt Management, Abdullahi Rasheed.
Tinubu had earlier written to the National Assembly seeking approval for the loan, noting that the request complies with relevant provisions of the Debt Management Office Act, 2011.

He said the funds will be used to execute sections of the road project, which is designed to link several parts of the country and improve transportation efficiency.
The Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway is a central component of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at strengthening infrastructure and enhancing national integration.
