Residents scoop fuel after tanker spills on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Several residents were seen scooping fuel after a tanker spilled its contents along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, near the Ibadan-Ijebu-Ode Road.

Videos from the scene showed men and women rushing to the area with buckets, jerrycans and other containers to collect the spilled petroleum product.

Some of the residents were seen scooping fuel from drainage channels and other spots where it had accumulated, despite the risk of fire and explosion.

The incident attracted personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps, as well as officials of the Federal and State Fire Services, who moved to secure the area and contain the spill.

The emergency responders worked to manage the risks posed by the spilled fuel and prevent further danger as residents continued to gather around the scene.
