Rivers Assembly moves to impeach Fubara

The Rivers State House of Assembly has formally commenced impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Oduh.

During a plenary session broadcast live on Channels Television on Thursday, Speaker Martins Amaewhule presided over the reading of the notice of allegations and gross misconduct against Governor Fubara.

The notice, signed by 26 members of the House, claims that Fubara violated provisions of the Nigerian Constitution.

Speaker Amaewhule stated that the notice would be officially served to the governor within the next seven days.

Similarly, the Deputy Majority Leader, Linda Stewart, read out a separate notice detailing allegations of gross misconduct against Deputy Governor Oduh.

The development marks a significant political move in Rivers State, as the Assembly initiates the formal process for potential removal of the state’s executive leadership.
