Ronaldo makes South Africa gaffe at Al-Nassr unveiling

Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, had a slip of the tongue at his official unveiling with Al-Nassr on Tuesday after he mistook Saudi Arabia for South Africa.

Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr as a free agent on Friday after leaving Manchester United.

“The football is different, so for me it’s not the end of my career to come to South Africa. This is why I want to change, and to be honest I’m really not worried about what people say.

“I won everything, I played for the most important clubs in Europe and now it is a new challenge in Asia,” the five-time Ballon d’Or winner told the media as he was presented at the Riyadh club.

After the media conference, he posed in his new Al-Nassr kit on the club’s pitch in front of thousands of fans.

The former Manchester United forward could make his debut for his new club on Thursday against Saudi Pro-League side Al Ta’ee or on Saturday against Al Shabab.

Ronaldo left United last month following an explosive television interview in which the forward said he felt betrayed by the Old Trafford club and did not respect their Dutch manager Erik ten Hag.

The Portugal international won two La Liga titles, two Spanish Cups, four Champions League titles, and three Club World Cups with Real Madrid between 2009 and 2018.

He went on to score a club record 451 times for Real Madrid and has more than 800 senior goals overall for club and country.

Ronaldo also claimed two Serie A titles and a Coppa Italia trophy in three years at Juventus before rejoining United with whom he had won three Premier League crowns, the FA Cup, two League Cups, the Champions League, and Club World Cup.
