Senegal forward, Sadio Mane, has been ruled out of the World Cup in Qatar due to a leg injury he sustained while playing for Bayern Munich.
Mane picked up an injury to his right fibula in Bayern’s 6-1 Bundesliga win over Werder Bremen last Tuesday.
Despite the injury, the 30-year-old player was named in Senegal’s 26-man squad for the World Cup but the former Liverpool forward will not feature in Qatar after being unable to recover from the injury.
The Africa Cup of Nations champions start their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on Monday.
Senegal will later play Qatar on November 25 and Ecuador on November 29.
Mane’s decisive penalty kicks won both the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification for his country this year.
