Lagos State Governor, Babajide Santo-Olu, has appointed Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, well known as MC Oluomo, as the chairman of a committee to oversee the affairs of all motor parks and garages in the state.
Sanwo-Olu said the appointment was in fulfillment of the government’s promise to ensure that events in the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) are not allowed to threaten law and order.
The latest development was made known via a statement issued and made available to The Star on Thursday by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.
Omotoso noted that the Lagos State Government has exercised its constitutional powers to ensure that no vacuum, which can disrupt the peace of state, is allowed to exist in the parks, saying it is a duty the government owes all Lagosians and visitors.
He added that the members of the committee will report to the Ministry of Transportation, Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja, Lagos State.
The former Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu (AIG Rtd), was also appointed as the Government Liaison Officer, while Alh Sulyman B. Ojora was selected as the Deputy Chairman of the committee, Dr. Taiwo Olufemi Salaam was appointed as the Secretary.

Other members include Comrade Olayiwola Lemboye, Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle, Alhaji Ganiyu Shittu, Alhaji Mukaila Runsewe, Alhaji Sulyman Yusuf, Alhaji Mufutau Mutiu, Alhaji Yinka Hassan, Alhaji Sunday Ogunleye, Alhaji Moshood Omojowa, Alhaji Ismaila Aigoro, Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf. O.
Others are Alhaji Akeem Tijani, Mrs. Omolabake Adelakun, Comrade Kazeem Hassan, Alhaji Wasiu Amole, Alhaji Ganiyu Ayinde, Anthony Adeyinka Adeboye, John Victor Owolabi, Saburi Salami, Ibrahim Onitiju, and Odusanya Gbenga.
It would be recalled that the Lagos State Government, on March 10, 2022, suspended NURTW operations in all parks and garages, following the tension sparked by some crisis in the union.
The Lagos State Council of the NURTW had withdrawn their membership from the national body.
The breakaway was as a result of the suspension of Lagos Council Chairman, MC Oluomo, by the headquarters of the union.
He was later sacked by the nation body of the union over alleged misconduct, insubordination, and inciting members of the state chapter against the national body.
