Sanwo-Olu reaffirms support, partnership with Nigerian Air Force

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to enhance security across the state.

Sanwo-Olu said Lagos remains strategic to Nigeria’s economic stability and growth, stressing that the state government would continue to provide the necessary support to the Air Force to safeguard critical assets and installations.

The governor spoke on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, and his delegation at Lagos House, Marina.

He commended the Nigerian Air Force for deploying competent and professional officers to Lagos, noting that the longstanding partnership between the state and the military had contributed significantly to maintaining security.

“Lagos is alive to its responsibility. The Nigerian Air Force and the Lagos State Government have been in partnership for a long time.

“There are strategic installations and facilities that you have in Lagos, which we cannot but continue to make sure that we fully safeguard,” Sanwo-Olu said.

“We are happy with the level of relationship that we currently enjoy.

“We know that Lagos is important and strategic to the economic progress of our country.

“We will continue to lead and provide that support,” he added.

Earlier, Aneke praised the governor for what he described as purposeful transformation and visionary leadership in the state, citing ongoing infrastructure development and improvements in public services.

He said the Air Force remains ready to deepen its collaboration with the Lagos State Government to strengthen security in the state and across the country.

“The Nigerian Air Force and Lagos have a long-standing relationship.

“Lagos is one of our earliest and major Air Force bases.

“We appreciate the support the state government has consistently provided,” Aneke said.

He added that the service would continue to work closely with the state to sustain peace and protect lives and property.

The visit underscored the existing cooperation between the Lagos State Government and the Nigerian Air Force in maintaining security and supporting development in Nigeria’s commercial hub.
