Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has enjoined the residents of the state to remain calm over the loss of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, to his challenger in the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, in Saturday’s presidential election in the state.
Sanwo-Olu urged Lagosians to shun violence, saying “all will be well”.
The governor gave the admonition via a statement issued on Monday.
He stated: “We have got reports of friction in some parts of Lagos this morning. All is calm now.
“There is no need for violence, which is not part of our culture.

“I urge all Lagosians to go about their businesses without any fear of harassment. Law enforcement agencies have been asked to ensure that there is no breakdown of law and order in any part of the state.
“I have been your Governor for almost four years, promoting harmony and friendship across ethnic and religious lines without any form of discrimination whatsoever.
“Let us remain calm. All will be well. We are a peaceful people and so we shall remain,” Governor Sanwo-Olu said.
The Star had reported that Obi polled 582,454 votes to defeat Tinubu in Lagos State as the APC presidential candidate got 572,606 votes.
Tinubu won in 11 local governments while Obi led in nine, but the LP candidate came top in the presidential election.
The presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, came a distant third with 75,750 votes.
