Sanwo-Olu unveils Irele Tower in Lekki industrial corridor

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday inaugurated Irele Tower — the first commercial building within the Lagos Free Zone and a landmark nine-storey, EDGE-certified development designed to drive sustainable growth in the Lekki economic corridor.

The building, which combines office and retail spaces, is developed as an eco-friendly “green” facility with 26% lower energy use and 46% reduced water consumption. Its maritime-inspired design reflects its proximity to the Lekki Deep Sea Port. The project aligns with IFC’s EDGE standards, which promote resource-efficient buildings across emerging markets.

Speaking at the inauguration, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the project as a major milestone for the Lagos Free Zone and a key driver of the state’s THEMES+ agenda to build a 21st-century economy.

He said Irele Tower would help unlock the full economic potential of the Ibeju-Lekki axis, which already hosts the Lekki Deep Sea Port and several large-scale industrial investments.
“This commissioning demonstrates what strong public-private collaboration can achieve. Irele Tower enriches the infrastructure profile of the Lagos Free Zone and strengthens our vision of Lagos as a premier investment hub,” he said.

Managing Director/CEO of the Lagos Free Zone, Adesuwa Ladoja, said the development showcases the zone’s commitment to building an integrated ecosystem supported by modern infrastructure, efficient logistics, and strategic positioning.

“The commissioning of Irele Tower is a defining milestone in our journey to create a world-class industrial and commercial hub,” she noted.

She added that the Tower was conceived in response to growing investor demand for high-quality commercial spaces as activity within the Lekki industrial corridor accelerates.

With a gross floor area of about 12,000 square metres, Irele Tower offers modern office spaces, retail outlets, shared workspaces, a rooftop cafeteria, parking facilities, and other premium amenities — blending functionality, elegance, and efficiency to support seamless business operations.
