The operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have rescued five passengers who were abducted by gunmen along Ondo Road in the state.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement, saying the incident happened at about 05:20 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026.
Jimoh noted that the passengers were in a commercial vehicle en-route Ondo to Akure, when they were intercepted and taken into the bush by the armed robbers where their belongings were obtained.
Jimoh said: “Following a swift response to the distress call, the command’s operatives alongside Ondo State Security Network, Amotekun Corps, carried out a targeted operation which led to the successfully rescue of the victims from the bush, unharmed.

“Meanwhile, three suspects have been apprehended in connection with the robbery and they are identified as Akinyemi Olamilekan ‘m’; Mutaka Ali ‘m’, and Atiku Abubakar ‘m’.
“The suspects have made useful statements that are aiding investigation and will be charged to court upon conclusion.”
Jimoh, therefore, reassured the public of the command’s continuous commitment to the safety and security of lives and property along highways and major commercial routes.
