Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), working alongside the Nigeria Police Force, have rescued 12 kidnapped victims and arrested two suspected kidnappers during a joint security operation in Nasarawa State.

Security sources said the operation was launched following a distress call reporting suspected kidnapping activities along the Nunku-Katanza Road in Akwanga Local Government Area.

Personnel from OPWS Sector 2 and police operatives were swiftly deployed to the area, where they engaged the suspects in the early hours of June 2.

The joint team successfully freed the 12 victims, who had reportedly been abducted by the suspects. Two suspects were arrested during the operation, while one motorcycle and two machetes believed to have been used in the crime were recovered.

The victims were secured and given necessary assistance, while the suspects and recovered items were handed over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Security authorities described the operation as part of ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes in Nasarawa and neighbouring states.

They reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining coordinated security operations aimed at safeguarding lives and property across the region.
