The Senate, on Wednesday, commenced the screening of the seven ministerial nominees forwarded to the upper chamber by President Muhammadu Buhari for confirmation.
The screening followed a motion moved by the Senate leader, Ajayi Boroffice.
The Star recalls that President Buhari, in a letter dated June 15, 2022, requested the Senate to confirm the nomination of seven ministerial nominees.
Buhari said the request was made in accordance with Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.
The President added that it was his expectation to receive the usual expeditious consideration and confirmation of the nominees by the upper chamber of the National Assembly.
The nominees for confirmation include Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh (Abia), Umana Okon Umana (Akwa Ibom), Ekumankama Joseph Nkama (Ebonyi), and Goodluck Nanah Opiah (Imo).
Others are Umar Ibrahim El-Yakub (Kano), Ademola Adewole Adegoroye (Ondo), and Odum Udi (Rivers).
