The Senate has summoned security chiefs over the recent attacks which led to the death of over 100 people in Plateau State.

The Senate summoned the security chiefs on Saturday, December 30, 2023, following a motion of urgent importance moved by Senator Diket Plang (APC-Plateau Central) over the killings in Bokkos Barkin-Ladi and Mangu Local Government Areas of Plateau State.

Those invited by the Senate include the Chief of Army Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja; the Chief of Air Staff, Hassan Abubakar; the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Bichi; and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun.

The upper chamber of the National Assembly ordered the security chiefs to appear before the lawmakers in a closed session.

The Senate also observed a minute silence in honour of the victims of the attacks.
