Senator announces medical leave, postpones endorsement rally

Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, representing Cross River North Senatorial District, has officially announced a temporary break from his legislative and constituency duties to attend to a pressing health matter.

In a statement issued from his office on June 30, 2025, the senator explained that he is currently receiving medical attention and expects to fully resume his responsibilities within two weeks or even earlier, God willing.

As a result of his medical condition, Senator Jarigbe also confirmed the postponement of a much-anticipated Endorsement Rally. He emphasized that the decision, though difficult, was necessary to ensure he is in full strength to connect meaningfully with his constituents.

“This is a necessary pause, and I am having proper medical attention. God willing, I expect to fully resume my responsibilities within the next two weeks or even sooner,” the senator said.

Addressing potential political criticism, Senator Jarigbe urged the public to show compassion rather than mockery, warning against politicizing a natural and unpredictable aspect of life such as illness.

“No mortal is immune to health challenges… Let us not lose our shared sense of humanity in the name of politics,” he stated, appealing for understanding and continued prayers.

The senator expressed gratitude for the unwavering support and prayers of his constituents, adding that those in urgent need of assistance—particularly regarding healthcare—should contact his constituency office for help during his brief absence.

Senator Jarigbe concluded with a message of hope and commitment, saying he looks forward to reuniting with his constituents and continuing their shared efforts toward the development and prosperity of Cross River North.
