Seven dead in bandit–miners clash in Kaduna

At least seven people have been confirmed dead following a violent clash between a repentant bandit and illegal miners in the Kuyello area of Kaduna State.

The incident, which occurred on Thursday, reportedly began when a repentant bandit identified as Shu’aibu allegedly used an AK-47 rifle to forcibly seize gold from the miners.

According to eyewitness accounts, the miners regrouped and attacked Shu’aibu, killing him on the spot.

His associates later staged a reprisal attack on the mining site, leaving seven miners dead and several others injured.

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA swiftly responded to the scene, evacuating the victims to the General Hospital in Shika.

Medical personnel at the hospital confirmed the deaths of seven miners, while the injured are currently receiving treatment.

Security operatives have since intensified patrols in the area to prevent further violence.
